Sunday, November 7, 2010 at 5:20PM Our waiter in Steak 'n' Shake, to another customer, regarding the size of her milkshake:
"What happens in Steak 'n' Shake stays in Steak 'n' Shake!"
Can I quote you on that?

Michaela referring to The Horse and His Boy
Sunday, October 31, 2010 at 8:10PM The kids were passing out candy once we got home from Trick or Treating. Eliana was watching out the door and as some more children were coming up the sidewalk she cried out,"Look! More customers!"
Saturday, October 16, 2010 at 10:02PM I was in the craft store today and it is being renovated. The renovation has created an odd space for the fabric-cutting area. I couldn't squeeze my stroller past the cart of the lady who was being helped so I left Eliana in the stroller at the back end of the counter while I carried my fabric to the cutting lady. I could see her and she could see me, and the ladies behind me in line said,"We'll keep an eye on her!" Christian stayed with her, too, and friendly little man that he is, began carrying on a conversation. They commented on the kids' blue eyes, and Christian informed them that we all have blue eyes, well, except Mike. He told these women,"My dad is the only one without hair, and without blue eyes...he's unique."
Priceless.
Tuesday, October 12, 2010 at 10:52PM I drove the boys to Karate tonight. The conversation in the back of the car was interesting. Somehow magic came up, and one boy was telling a story. He was explaining some trick he had either seen or heard about when the other friend interrupted him with,"Do you remember the one where they saw someone in half?" The boy telling the story paused for a moment and said matter-of-factly,"I have never done that," and then carried on with his own story.
For me, it was the highlight of the conversation.
Saturday, October 9, 2010 at 11:16PM Knock-knock jokes from Eliana:
E: Knock, knock.
M ("M" is for "Mommy"): Who's there?
E: Surprise!
M: Surprise who?
E: Ginger one!
E: Knock, knock.
M: Who's there?
E: Trees!
M: Trees who?
E: Trees outside!
E: Knock, knock.
M: Who's there?
E: Cars!
M: Cars who?
E: Cars outside!
E: Knock, knock.
M: Who's there?
E: Grass!
M: Grass who?
E: Grass outside!
E: Knock, knock.
M: Who's there?
E: Um, Mommy!
M: Mommy who?
E: Surprise!
Kind of like the banana/orange jokes from back in the day, no?
And we were in Walmart today and she had my list. She looked at the list and read it to me. According to her it said,"We are all done at the store." I don't remember writing that on there...
Saturday, October 2, 2010 at 10:50AM This morning Eliana woke up next to me and said quietly,"Mom, can we snuddle?"
Then she went back to sleep curled up next to me.
Sigh.
(I love that her "g"s come out as "d"s.)
Wednesday, September 29, 2010 at 7:42PM Things I hear from Eliana lately...
"Okay! Fine!" (Mom, this brings to mind Jack Bauer and co. every time.)
"Yeah, sure."
"I'm goin' with Michaela. See ya."
And she is only three...
Saturday, September 25, 2010 at 12:49PM I took 2 round pans of banana bread out of the oven and put them on a set of stacking cooking racks. Eliana looked at them and said,"The top one is for you and the bottom one is for me, right?"
Sunday, September 19, 2010 at 9:27PM "Suffering is temporary. Groaning doesn't last forever. Glory is everlasting." -Pastor Jay Lee
Such a simple statement...took my breath away. Literally.
Thursday, September 16, 2010 at 9:54PM Michaela is always thinking.
Tonight she came down from her room, after I had tucked her in, and she said,"You know I've been reading a lot of The Chronicles of Narnia..."
I read them to her a while back and since then she has probably read each one again about three times.
She went on,"Well, I think that C.S. Lewis says a lot of things in The Chronicles of Narnia that remind me of the Bible."
Awww, yeah. Can a mama's heart sing? Mine just did.
Tuesday, September 14, 2010 at 1:42AM A conversation between Eliana and myself:
Me: Is there any more pasta in your bowl? Do you want more?
Eliana: Yeah.
Me: Which one?
Eliana: G
An existential philosophical genius, that girl. I can't even comprehend her at age three! What will I do when she is 5?!
Friday, September 10, 2010 at 11:16PM Every day Eliana says things that make me laugh. She is full of interesting and hilarious comments, and the way she says things is too funny to convey with a written word from me. But, I'll try.
Here are two things:
She says she likes to eat Kix; it comes out like this,"I like to eat tits." Terrible, aren't I?
She also throws things away, very helpful. She puts them in the "frash tan". Sooo, her "t" comes out as an "f" and her "c" comes out like a "t". All righty then.
Tuesday, September 7, 2010 at 12:33PM After soccer practice Christian came over to me and said,"We have a new name...we're the Blue Cheese!" I was like,"Ooookay." It seemed a little weird, but I thought,"It's their decision."
Today I got an email from the coach. He reminded us about the game times, uniform colors, and of the new name: the Blue Chiefs.
I'm still laughing.
