My Lord and My God!

Morning conquered darkness as the hazy hues
Of a new day met them

They carried spices to anoint the man
Buried so hastily
There had been no time
But now what was time to them

Behind the massive stone
Lay their hope

In silence women walked, pondered
Till the earth shook again to
Make alive men as dead and
Reveal the dead one as alive

"He is not here; he is risen, just as he said."

The silence had been broken
Now the women fled to tell
Of empty tombs and linen cloth and
Of a resurrected Savior

From atop the massive stone
The angel proclaimed hope

Good news was theirs to share
His face, his hands, his side
Were real and here and now he
Spoke and ate as any man alive

But not just as any man
He is "My Lord and my God!"
