Spring Break-In Like a Lamb, Out Like a Lion

After a few glorious days of wearing short-sleeves to run errands and play on the playground, winter came back!  It was 37º outside today...that is just a bit too close to freezing for March, I think.  It rained early this morning, and the rest of the day has been gray and a little windy.  It was the perfect day to curl up under a cozy blanket with a good book.

Although, according to Michaela, any day is the perfect day to curl up and read a good book.

This afternoon we hopped in the car to get Eliana to sleep, but it soon became clear that napping wasn't going to happen in this decade; I ended up just getting gas, and driving home after the failed attempt.  We were all cold and so there was only one thing to do...

That's right.  Hot chocolate and cookies.

The cookies were Pillsbury Simply...their all-natural version for break-and-bake.  Usually I think they cost too much, so I don't get them, but they were on sale recently.  This was not good for my determination to lower my sugar/fat intake, but it was good for satisfying the desire of my children to have cookies every now and then.

We made the hot chocolate from scratch...mmm.

I thought the time had come to put away the snowmen...but here they were again, rejoicing in the fact that we were seeing a little glimpse of their favorite time of year before summer abruptly trounces spring with an onslaught of blazing sun and heat; that's the way it goes in Dallas.

There is nothing like a cookie and a mug of hot chocolate on a dreary day to lift one's spirits.

And don't forget the good book...

Is your weather doing crazy things these days?  I know everyone is so anticipating the warmth of spring!

P.S.  This is how strange our weather got tonight!!  Snow...it's nuts.

YOU have snow? Now that is bizarre. Snow in March in Nebraska is par for the course, but Dallas???? What a weird, weird, winter it has been.
