Hot Spots and Windy Conditions

I made a list today of the hot spots in our house.

There are many, many hot spots.

A hot spot is an area where messes tend to accumulate. It might be by the front door. Or by the back door. Or on the kitchen counter. Or on the coffee table. Or on your nightstand.

In my case, it would be all of the above...if this happens to you too, and you can't quite make sense of it, find relief in the knowledge that there is a diagnosis for this blight. It's known as Flat Surface Syndrome. And I've got it bad. I have yet to come across a surface I can't cover cure for this malady, but I have decided to make an attempt to manage my own case.

I made a list of these different areas, which I hope to clean up each night. Maybe every other night. And maybe by clearing these places regularly, I will get into the habit of keeping them cleaned up (or at least tidy), and it will become easier to clean them because they will not be so heavily laden.

(It's hard though. I have a gift, the gift of precarious placement. Asking me to refrain from using my gift is like saying,"Stop breathing!")

My hot spots are by the front door, the area in front of the shoe rack, by the back door (both the floor and the table there), the kitchen counters (yes, plural), the coffee table, the side table, the school table, Eliana's table, and I'm not even going to talk about our bedroom right now. For the moment, it doesn't count at all. It's like it's own planet, in a separate galaxy in another universe, in a parallel dimension.

I know I am being ambitious, but I have a lot of goals otherwise...why not just lay it all out. There are things that need to change. Maybe it will be easier to change a whole lot of habits at once, since I'll be on a roll. In a change-it-up! frame of mind. The change-one-thing-at-a-time method hasn't been entirely successful...sometimes the all-or-nothing can work for you, you know?

School has been going well (not perfectly, but well), I have been doing some of the reading I want to do, and I feel pretty good in general. I am ready for fall, and for all that is ahead this school year. That is pretty exciting. As summer relinquishes the reins and autumn amicably acquires them, as the heat of August lingers and mingles with the cooler breezes of September, what are you excited about? The winds of change...what are they bringing to you?

Maybe they'll just blow all the stuff right off all these flat surfaces...

Oh yes! Yes indeedy - all or nothing can work wonders sometimes. Change it up girl! The winds of change are bringing sweet surrender my way. And I couldn't be happier!
