On Forgetting to Remember

I am the ultimate procrastinator.

I don't say this with pride. It's just for the record. And here's the thing: I don't always procrastinate on purpose. My brain doesn't work in real time.

If you don't believe me, just ask my college roommate. I distinctly remember her taking the first finger of her left hand and making it travel through the air, followed not too far behind with the first finger on her right hand, while saying,"This is the world (first finger number one) and here is Christina, five minutes behind it (second first finger)." (She said it with affection. I was endearing in so many ways.) This is to say, sometimes I'm behind the times. This is true even more today, as the older I get, the more I forget.

And, to be more precise, I don't just forget. I forget to remember everything that I need to remember. So, I remember a portion of what I ought to remember, but forget certain important details. Just one example is the fact that I am going to apply for a passport tomorrow, and I knew this for several days, but it eluded my mind that I would, in fact, need to take a photo with me to my appointment. Therefore, I need to leave earlier than I would have had to in order to go get passport photos taken on my way because my appointment is in the morning.

I already know that tomorrow I will need a nap.

I don't think I will forget it either.
