A Question for the Masses

(or the five or six people who might read our blog...)

Where do you put your clean laundry when you take it out of the dryer? 

Do you fold it right away and stick it in drawers and closets immediately?

Do you put it in a basket and leave the basket in the bedroom floor for a week?

Do you put it in a basket and add more clean clothes to the basket as you do your laundry?

Do you pile it on the bed and other pieces of furniture until putting away the clean laundry becomes such a dire necessity that you must take the hour and a half that should have only been fifteen minutes and put it all away at once?

Am I the only one with this issue?

I must know.

"Hello?  Putting-away-clean-laundry problem here.  How can I help you?"

"Yes, this is putting-away-clean-dishes problem.  I heard there were equal opportunities for problems there.  I think I have a lot to offer, if you will give me the chance to show you what I'm made of."

"We'd love to take a look at your profile.  Problems are our area of expertise; the more the merrier.  But you have to know...we run a tight ship around here.  Do you think you can handle it?"

"Well, I can certainly give it my best shot."

(Me) "Wait, don't I get a say in all this...no, no, we don't want any more problems...mmmpfff." (Shove, shove, stuff in closet.)

"Who was that?"

"Oh, no one you need to worry about.  Like I said, we welcome problems here.  You seem more than qualified.  You can start whenever you're ready!"

"Thank you so much!  I was beginning to feel like I had no where to go."

"Hey, that's exactly what we're looking for around here!  Welcome home!"

Trying to Get Away...

If you are reading this, then you may know about my putting-laundry-away problem (which, by the way, grows more serious every day as the piles get bigger and bigger).   When we were in Florida for Christmas, I happened to notice this one night...

This is after putting most of the clean laundry away. 

Will someone please inform my putting-laundry-away problem that it is not welcome on my vacations...I'm trying to relax, you know?!

Airing My Clean Laundry

I have a laundry problem.  I should make that a more accurate statement...I have a putting-laundry-away problem.  I can get it clean, even folded.  But it sits around forever after that, because I "don't have time" to do the next step.  Then it gets to the point that I have to put it away because my stacks are going to fall over onto the floor or onto Eliana, or Christian runs out of socks in his drawer, or I can't find any pants for myself because they're buried three loads deep in a pile on our bed. Well, today I stood up to my problem and tackled it head on.  I put away all the clean clothes I could find (and they were scattered all over, from school room to living room to our room).  I was determined especially to put away the clothes that were in our bedroom; they were taking over the bed and the dresser-the top of the dresser, not the inside where they are supposed to go.  It took a while, and I felt really motivated and even swept under the dresser, bed, and other furniture in the room.  The whole experience was quite satisfactory.  Michaela was sweet and kept Eliana entertained while I did this (does this count as home ec?).  And when I was done you will not believe what I found in my room! I had forgotten that was there!
